quality time: /ˈkwɒləti taɪm/ time spent giving your full attention to somebody, especially to your children or partner after work. 

E.g.

 Do you spend enough quality time with your children?

 

bestie:

a person's best friend

E.g.
It was fun hanging out with my bestie.
be besties with somebody Hank is besties with Sarah.

hang out: to spend a lot of time in a particular place or with particular people 

E.g.

 I don’t really know who she hangs out with. 

 Where do the youngsters hang out?


catch up: to spend time finding out what has been happening while you have been away or during the time you have not seen someone.

E.g.  

When I got home I phoned Jo to catch up on all the gossip.  

I’ll leave you two alone – I’m sure you’ve got a lot of catching up to do


genre: /ˈʒɒ̃rə/ a particular type or style of literature, art, film or music that you can recognize because of its special features.

E.g.

literary/musical genres
the horror/action/fantasy genre

 

old-time: /ˈəʊld taɪm/ typical of the past.

E.g.
old-time dancing

old-time remedies.

an old-time classic 


pack up: to put your possessions into a bag, etc. before leaving a place.

E.g.

Are you packing up already? It's only 4 o'clock.
We arrived just as the musicians were packing up their instruments.
to pack up your belongings/bags
I think we might as well pack up and go home.

comfort zone:
your comfort zone is the range of activities or situations that you feel happy and confident in.

E.g. Most people, when faced with doing something that lies outside their comfort zone, will get nervous and panic.

strike up

strike up something (with somebody)
​to begin a friendship, a relationship, a conversation, etc.

E.g.
He would often strike up conversations with complete strangers.
