If only one thing had happened differently …
Reconstruct the story using conditionals. Try to use a
couple of examples of mixed conditionals too.
1. A
woman in Paris was on her way to go shopping, but she had forgotten her coat …
When she’d gotten her coat, the phone had rung and she’d stopped to answer it.
2. The
taxi driver had dropped a fare (a passenger in a taxi) off earlier and he’d stopped to get a cup of
coffee. He stopped to pick up the lady who was going shopping and had missed an
earlier cab. The taxi driver had to stop for a man who was late for work.
3. The
man had left for work five minutes later than he normally did because he forgot
to set his alarm.
4. The
taxi driver was waiting outside a chocolate shop while the woman was waiting for a package.
5. The
package hadn’t been wrapped yet because the girl who was supposed to have
wrapped it had broken up with her boyfriend the night before.
6. When
the woman got back in the cab, it was blocked by a delivery truck.
7. While
the delivery truck was pulling away, Daisy was waiting for one of her friends
who had broken a shoelace.
8. While
Daisy was coming out of the rehearsal, the taxi was stopped at a traffic light.
